3 Political Prisoners Taken Back to Public Wards in Rajai Shahr Prison

Saeed Abedini, Mostafa Eskandari and Khaled Hardani were transferred back to Hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison after 5 days in solitary confinement.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), early this week, these three suddenly and without any explanation were taken to solitary confinement which had caused other prisoners serious protests.

Saeed Abedini, Iranian-American citizen, was arrested in his father home after his return to Iran in early September 2012.

Mid February 2012, he was sentenced to eight years in prison on charge of organizing and setting up in house churches to disrupt national security, by the Islamic Revolution Court Branch 26, then as a result of objections to this decision, the case was referred to Branch 36 of Tehran’s Appeals Court and the Court upheld the decision of the First Instance Court.

Khalid Hardani was sentenced to death on charges of disturbing the flights safety then his family and his lawyers objected to the trial process, which caused this sentence overturned and fell into a life sentence. Later on, he was sentenced, separately, to 7 years imprisonment and 6 years exile to city of Khash, and now he is serving his imprisonment in Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj.

Mostafa Eskandari, medical student is one of the detainees in Fortieth day of Neda Agha Soltan’s memorial in Behesht Zahra cemetery and is in Hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj now. He was arrested along with his wife, Kobra Zagheh Dost, on 30th July 2009, and with accusations such as; “disturbing public order” and “interviews with foreign media”, he was charged with a heavy sentence of 31 years imprisonment.
