Rostam Bagheri, a prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, who had been chemically injured in the war between Iran and Iraq, has been deprived of his essential medicines in prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), one of the ordinary prisoners in ward 10 of Rajai Shahr prison named Rostam Bagheri, has been deprived of medical care despite his severe disease.
He is one of the those who had been chemically injured during the war between Iran and Iraq by Mustard gas in 1985.
One of his relatives told HRANA’s reporter, “On 7th January, police forces rioted to his home and arrested him with charges of using satellite TV equipment and keeping Army Uniforms at home.
Since then he has been detained in Rajai Shahr prison and the charges are still undecided.”
The source also said: “Rostam Bagheri should regularly take 5 infrequent tablets, but that drug has not been provided for him. Also due to its chemical-induced skin disease, since two weeks ago his skin is bleeding and there is no medical treatment for this condition either.”
Lack of medical care for ill prisoners in country’s prisons has got worse during the recent years and ordinary prisoners are more neglected because of less support that they get.
