Children, Victims of the Warmongering of Governments<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n With the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East, following the war between Israel, the United States, and Iran, more than 200 children in Iran have lost their lives. Two months prior to this, during the protests of January 2025 (Dey 1404), more than 200 other children were killed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.<\/p>\n Attack on Shajera Tayebeh School in Minab<\/strong><\/p>\n Following a missile strike on Shajera Tayebeh School in Minab, at least 185 students were killed and dozens were injured. Another child in the city of Qazvin also lost their life due to missile shrapnel hitting a school.<\/p>\n So far, none of the countries involved in the conflict have accepted responsibility for this missile attack, and each side blames the other. However, what is clear and undeniable is that children are the victims of war and the misguided policies of governments.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Prosecution at the International Criminal Court (ICC)<\/strong><\/p>\n Under the Rome Statute, the deliberate killing of civilians (especially children) is considered a war crime. The Court can issue international arrest warrants for perpetrators and sentence them to long-term imprisonment (up to 30 years) or life imprisonment.<\/p>\n Geneva Conventions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n According to Article 48, 51, and 52 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, as well as Article 27 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, attacks against civilians and non-military centers\u2014including schools\u2014are considered a clear violation of international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n Convention on the Rights of the Child \u2013 Article 38<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Governments are obligated to protect children during times of war.
