February 21, International Mother Language Day Video and Audio Clip

Mother tongue is the first language a child without learn it before being to speak. This date is declared in support of diversity and multiplicity of languages, multilingual cultures and education. At the present out of 6500 languages in world, half of them are threaten to extinction. Iran is a country with ethnic and linguistics diversity and minimum 6 tribes with different cultures and languages which is distinct from Persian the official language of the country. According to the article 15 of Islamic Republic of Iran Constitution the people’s language and handwriting is Persian and all the documents, correspondence, the official text and textbooks should be in the same language. But, the use of local and ethnic languages for teaching literature at schools, Press and media alongside with Persian is allowed. Obviously, the government of Islamic Republic of Iran has not implemented the part 2 from article 15. The article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights emphasized on the right to the free education for everyone and in part 3 its point to the parents have a prior right to choose the education of kind that shall be given to their children. But, unfortunately the failure to implement this article in Iran and educating in Persian language its cause many of children to leave the schools and increase the cultural poverty and child labor.
