The purpose of this day is to emphasize the importance of blinds and visually impaired People and also make more attention to their problems and provide a proper environment for them.
According to the world health organization report, 285 million people in the world are suffering from eyesight problems and 39 million of this population are completely blind and the rest are visually impaired. The majority of the people who are blind or having the eyesight weakness at the present and in future will live in south Asian countries and the women with the percentage of 54% are more than men. The major problems which blinds facing in Iran are: lack of employment, inadequate educational status and lack of facilities, inadequate access to the public places (parks, banks, stores, transportation, offices,…), lack of braille or warning line inside the buildings as a guide. The articles 1 and 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are indicating the nondiscrimination and all are free and equal and emphasized everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The article 19 of Convention of disable rights declare that the governments which are the members of this conventions must provide the equal rights in society for all the people who are disable and they should have proper condition to can have a chance to be more effective in the society. The UNESCO 2030 Agenda in the paragraph 3, 4, 5 is indicates to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. The blinds have a right to use all the facilities in society and the government have a duty to provide all the comfort services for them. All the people entire world must accept and give respect to the blind’s social and citizens rights.
