1995 Amendment to Article 43 (2) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child

Adopted in New York, USA on 12 December 1995
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, acting in his capacity as depositary, and with reference
to depositary notification C.N. 138.1995.TREATIES-3 of 22 May 1995, communicates the following:
It will be recalled that the States Parties to the above Convention, during the Conference of the States
Parties held on 12 December 1995, decided to adopt the amendment to article 43, paragraph (2) of
the above Convention.
The General Assembly having approved the amendment at its fiftieth session by resolution 50/155 of
21 December 1995, the amendment shall enter into force when it has been accepted by a two-thirds
majority of States Parties, in accordance with article 50 (2) of the Convention.
The certified true copies of the adopted amendment are submitted under cover of this notification to
all States Parties for acceptance.

Amendment to Article 43, Paragraph (2) of the
Convention on the Rights of the Child Adopted at the
Conference of the States Parties on 12 December 1995

Decides to adopt the amendment to article 43, paragraph 2, of the Convention on the Rights of the
Child, replacing the word “ten” by the word “eighteen”.
I hereby certify that the foregoing text is a true copy of the Amendment to article 43, paragraph (2) of
the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the Conference of the States Parties which was
held in New York on 12 December 1995, the original of which is deposited with the Secretary-General
of the United Nations.
