Abbas Lesani’s Imprisonment Sentence Confirmed by the Court of Appeal

Abbas Lesani’s one year in prison sentence has been confirmed by the court of appeal of Ardebil.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), branch number one of the appeal court of Ardabil province rejected the defenses of Mr. Lesani and confirmed one year in prison sentence. The court also rejected the plea of Ardabil’s persecutor regarding the exile.

Mr. Lesani had not attended any of his three court sessions in protest to non-compliance with article 168 of constitution regarding public trial, had been sentenced to one year in prison in branch number one of the revolutionary court of Ardebil by chief judge Asad Poor, on April 25.

Abbas Lesani is a civil rights activist and have multiple arrest in his record. Last time he was arrested on charge of propaganda against the regime, assembling a group and intention of disrupting public order, for protesting about the negligence of authorities to the situation of Uremia Lake on September 9, 2011. He was released on 100 million Tomans bail, after 55 days on November 5, 2011.
